Semarang Immigration Uncovers Transnational Online Love Scam Involving Chinese Nationals

en.malanginspirasi.com  – The Semarang Immigration Office, in conjunction with the Central Java Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, has uncovered an alleged online love scam perpetrated by four Chinese foreign nationals in Semarang.

This discovery is the result of a two-week immigration intelligence operation.

As shown at the Instagram account @ditjen_imigrasi, during the raid in West Semarang, officers detained four foreign nationals and two Indonesian citizens for further investigation.

They seized hundreds of electronic devices  at the scene, including 604 cell phones, 11 laptops, 10 AIO computers, hundreds of SIM cards, and several documents.

Based on the initial investigation, the perpetrators are suspected of operating a love scam by establishing emotional relationships through false identities on digital platforms to gain financial gain.

The targeted victims are known to be located outside Indonesia.

The foreign nationals are currently undergoing intensive investigation and are suspected of violating the provisions regarding the misuse of stay permits as stipulated in the Immigration Law.

The Directorate General of Immigration emphasized that it will continue to strengthen oversight to prevent Indonesia from being used as a base for transnational crime.

The Head of the Semarang Immigration Office, Ari Widodo, emphasized that the successful resolution of this case demonstrates the Immigration Office’s commitment to maintaining regional security and preventing the misuse of stay permits by foreign nationals.

“This disclosure is the result of ongoing immigration intelligence work and strong synergy between the Semarang Immigration Office and the Central Java Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration. We will ensure that any alleged immigration violations are processed in accordance with applicable law,” said Ari Widodo.
