Prosecutors say the teenager, identified only as Clément L., targeted Mbappé as one of several high-profile victims in a broader criminal network involving accomplices.
The group is also suspected of planning or preparing kidnappings and home invasions against businessmen and a rapper.
The alleged activities spanned from April 11 to August 19 in locations including Neuilly-sur-Seine, Saint-Brice-sous-Forêt (Val-d’Oise), and Santenay (Côte-d’Or).
Clément L. and one alleged accomplice were arrested on August 21 in Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine) initially on theft charges.
The 18-year-old, described as slim with long hair, is suspected of acting as the organizer or order-giver for the series of attacks and planned abductions.
