en.malanginspirasi.com – The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has affirmed that student safety and health are the top priorities in managing the food poisoning incident at the Manbaul Hikam Islamic Junior and Senior High Schools (MTs and MA) in Putat, Tanggulangin, Sidoarjo, East Java, which occurred on September 1, 2026.
As of Wednesday morning (September 2), a total of 512 students had received medical attention, with 80 of them remaining hospitalized.
BGN Deputy for Monitoring and Supervision, Ketut Sumedana, stated that the agency continues to monitor the condition of the students still receiving hospital care.
Of the 512 students treated, 312 have been discharged, while another 120 remain under observation. “Our primary concern right now is the safety and health of our children.
Therefore, BGN will continue to monitor the 80 students still hospitalized and ensure they receive the necessary care until they recover and can return to their respective homes,” said Ketut on Wednesday (September 2, 2026).
According to Ketut, BGN is also coordinating with the local Health Agency and relevant parties to ensure comprehensive care for the affected students.

BGN has expressed its concern for the affected students and their families and is currently supporting the recovery process at healthcare facilities.
“BGN takes this incident very seriously. We extend our deepest concern, particularly to the affected students and the families currently by their side,” said Ketut.
Alongside the medical care being provided, an investigation into the incident is currently underway.
Laboratory tests are also being conducted to gather the necessary information to comprehensively identify the cause of the incident.
BGN emphasized that the laboratory test results will be a crucial component of the investigation. Consequently, the government is awaiting these results before drawing conclusions regarding the cause of the food safety incident.
Ketut assured that the care of the students and the investigation are proceeding concurrently, ensuring that the health of the beneficiaries remains the primary focus while the cause of the incident is traced objectively and responsibly.
“We hope for a speedy recovery for all affected students so they can reunite with their families and resume their normal activities. The safety and health of every beneficiary of the Free Nutritious Meal Program is our priority,” Ketut stated.
