‘The Assassin(s)’ Crosses 2 Million Movie Goers Amid Ongoing Controversies

en.malanginspirasi.com –  The new film “The Assassin(s)” has officially surpassed two million movie goers at the South Korean box office despite being embroiled in historical accuracy debates.

Data from the Korean Film Council shows that the movie reached a cumulative ticket count of 2,045,495 as of October 3. Premiering on September 23, the historical thriller hit this significant box office milestone in just 11 days.

Directed by Hur Jin Ho and starring Yoo Hae Jin, Park Hae Il, and Lee Min Ho, the narrative centers on the high-stakes investigation behind the shocking 1974 assassination attempt in South Korea.

However, since its debut, the project has faced mounting backlash over claims that key story elements distort historical facts.

In response to the growing public friction, production company Hive Media Corp. announced the cancellation of all scheduled appearances at the 31st Busan International Film Festival (BIFF).

In an official press statement, Hive Media Corp. explained that the decision was made after thorough evaluation, prioritizing audience safety and ensuring the festival runs smoothly without disruption.

The studio expressed its apologies to fans and requested public understanding.

Additionally, Lee Min Ho’s standalone “Actors House” session set for October 7 was canceled, effectively erasing all official presence of “The Assassin(s)” from this year’s BIFF lineup. The 31st Busan International Film Festival runs from October 6 through October 15.
