Malanginspirasi.com – The Malang City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has established an emergency flood response post (Posko Tanggap Bencana) on Jalan Sidomulyo, Purwodadi, Blimbing District, as a rapid measure to anticipate flooding in the most vulnerable areas: Blimbing and Lowokwaru districts, on Thursday, 11 December 2025.
Mayor Wahyu Hidayat stated that yesterday’s flooding was not caused solely by extremely high rainfall intensity. But was also triggered by on-the-ground issues such as garbage and sedimentation that obstructed water flow.
Following the incident, Malang City Government together with all neighborhood units (RT/RW) immediately conducted a mass clean-up operation along rivers and drainage channels.
“So for now, we are focusing on the most affected districts, namely Blimbing and Lowokwaru. Furthermore, in other areas, such as Kedungkandang District, we have also coordinated with the relevant agencies for further handling,” said Wahyu.
Sukun District is also on standby, as every district has already been equipped with disaster-response tools by BPBD.
The Mayor hopes the presence of these posts will enable faster and more targeted disaster response.
Synergy of All Parties
BPBD Malang official Surya explained that although the main posts are located in the two priority districts, support remains available from other teams.
“We work in synergy. Duty personnel are stationed at the posts. But beyond that we still have village teams and district volunteers ready to deploy if a disaster occurs,” he said.

BPBD member Dwi Hermawan added that eight additional posts will be set up at Christmas and New Year (Nataru) celebration zones.
“Our BPBD teams will also secure the Nataru areas. There will be eight posts there. The flood posts cover two districts, while Nataru has eight. So everything is interconnected and the locations will be brought closer together,” Hermawan said.
BPBD has also conducted a worst-case flood simulation with water levels reaching two meters as part of its preparedness measures.
Malang City Police (Polresta Malang) Preparedness
Polresta Malang representative Faud stated that the police have readied two special vehicles. A rescue unit and a “kinen” (personnel carrier) vehicle.

Various evacuation equipment is also on standby, including life rings, chainsaws for fallen trees, ropes, flashlights, life vests, inflatable donut boats, and additional life rings that are highly effective in narrow alleys.
“Currently we have two life rings on standby for floods, and eight more units will arrive soon,” Faud said.
All equipment and personnel will remain on 24-hour alert throughout the extreme weather period until the situation is declared fully safe.
