Governor Khofifah Reaffirms Commitment to Accelerate Construction of 32,000 Homes for Low-Income Residents

EN.malanginspirasi.com – Amid the warm and sacred atmosphere of Ramadan, East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa once again underscored her strong commitment to the welfare of the province’s residents. She delivered the message while attending an iftar gathering with the East Java Regional Board of Real Estate Indonesia (DPD REI) and Indonesia’s Minister of Religious Affairs, Nasaruddin Umar, at the Sheraton Surabaya Hotel & Towers on Friday, 6 March 2026.

The iftar event was far more than a formal gathering. For Governor Khofifah, the moment provided a vital platform to discuss one of the most pressing challenges: fulfilling the people’s right to decent housing.

She stressed that owning a proper home is not merely about economic growth. It is fundamentally about delivering real social justice for every layer of society.

The national government is currently accelerating an ambitious program to build three million homes. In East Java, this momentum is clearly visible. As of early 2026, a total of 32,384 housing units for low-income communities (MBR) have already been mapped for development.

The breakdown is highly promising:

  • 6,947 units are ready for occupancy (ready stock)
  • 10,087 units are currently under construction
  • 15,350 units are scheduled to begin construction throughout 2026

“Developers play an extremely important role,” Khofifah said with genuine appreciation. “They don’t just drive the economy and create jobs — they help ordinary people gain access to decent and affordable housing.”

East Java’s achievements in people-focused housing are undeniable. Between 2023 and 2025, the province successfully channeled 45,543 housing units through the Housing Financing Liquidity Facility (FLPP) scheme, with a total value reaching Rp5.3 trillion.

These impressive figures position East Java as one of the strongest pillars of Indonesia’s national subsidized housing program.
