Kota Batu Finalizes Venue Preparations for Porprov Jatim IX 2025

Malanginspirasi.com – Kota Batu is steadily finalizing its preparations as one of the host cities for the 9th East Java Provincial Sports Week (Porprov Jatim IX) in 2025. A total of 17 competition venues within Kota Batu are being intensively readied to ensure smooth and successful event execution.

This commitment was highlighted during a recent meeting held on Monday, May 19, 2025, involving representatives from the Department of Education, the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) Kota Batu, and various sports branch chairmans.

During the session, each sports branch outlined their specific venue requirements.

One notable consideration is the Paramount Field in Kota Batu, which is being evaluated as the potential site for the Horseback Archery (HBA) events.

Meanwhile, the Grasstrack track will undergo repairs closer to the event dates to prevent damage caused by weather or other activities prior to the competition.

Other venues, such as GOR Gajah Mada and Ganesha, have already undergone renovation processes. Supporting logistics, including transportation, hotel accommodations, and catering services, are also being finalized to ensure comprehensive support for all event participants and organizers.

Sentot Ari Wahyudi, Chairman of KONI Kota Batu, expressed confidence that the city’s preparations as a host are now quite mature. He also revealed the city’s ambitious target to rank among the top 10 in the competition, leveraging their status as co-hosts alongside the City (Kota) and Regency (Kabupaten) of Malang.

Currently, 42 sports branches have commenced centralized training programs.

“In early June, athletes will be gathered at GOR Gajah Mada, where character-building programs will be conducted. We are also bringing in psychologists to boost motivation and mental strength,” explained Sentot.

Beyond technical training, all athletes will undergo mental conditioning and a series of fitness assessments, including VO₂max measurements and comprehensive health check-ups.

Kota Batu plans to be represented by 540 athletes in this provincial sporting event, with the majority hailing from team sports such as futsal, soccer, and basketball.

Sentot identified several key sports expected to contribute significantly to the city’s medal tally: paragliding, wrestling, wushu, tarung derajat (a local martial art), diving, and cycling.

“Additionally, muaythai and sambo have been introduced as new sports with potential for medal success,” he added.

To further motivate the athletes, KONI Kota Batu has prepared competitive bonuses for outstanding performers.

“Gold medalists will receive a bonus of IDR 40 million. Kota Batu aims to maintain parity with other regions in Malang Raya, ensuring equal reward standards,” concluded Sentot.
