EN.malanginspirasi.com – Malang Regent Drs. H. M. Sanusi, M.M., personally received and expressed appreciation to young local boxer Oky Akbar D’Lahoya for his outstanding international achievement. The fighter, who hails from Santana Gym in Kepanjen, Malang Regency, has now claimed the prestigious WBC Asia title.
The Regent extended the recognition during a meeting at the Regent’s Office on Monday, April13, 2026.
Sanusi said he was proud that Okky had successfully elevated the name of Malang Regency on the global boxing stage.
“This achievement is certainly a source of pride for all of us. Okky has shown that with hard work, discipline, and an indomitable spirit, a son of Malang Regency can compete and succeed at the international level,” Sanusi stated.
He added that the success should serve as inspiration for Malang’s younger generation to excel in various fields, especially sports.
“The Malang Regency Government will continue to support the development of local athletes. So that more young talents can emerge and achieve success both nationally and internationally,” Sanusi said.
Fifth-Round Knockout Secures Title
Oky Akbar D’Lahoya captured the World Boxing Council (WBC) Asia championship in the bantamweight division (53.5 kg) after stopping Thailand’s Chirawat Phromma by knockout in the fifth round. The bout took place on Saturday, April, 11 2026, at the Pancasila Sports Hall (GOR Pancasila) in Surabay. The championship was a part of the FLOS Fight Series, promoted by Alexander Ongky of FLOS Promotion.
In response to the Regent’s appreciation, Okky expressed gratitude. Especially for the support he has received from the Malang Regency Government and the local community, which he described as a key motivation throughout his career.
