Minyakita Stocks Running Low in Traditional Markets Nationwide as Bulog Requests More Quota Immediately

EN.malanginspirasi.com – Stocks of the subsidized cooking oil brand Minyakita are running critically low in traditional markets across Indonesia. State-owned logistics company Perum Bulog has responded quickly by submitting a formal request for an additional Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) quota for Minyakita to the Directorate General of Domestic Trade at the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) in the coming days.

Perum Bulog President Director Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani confirmed the move follows direct instructions from Minister of Agriculture and Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas) Andi Amran Sulaiman.

“This is what we submitted yesterday in line with the directive from the Minister of Agriculture, who also serves as Head of Bapanas, to request additional DMO Minyakita,” Ahmad Rizal said on Saturday, April 4, 2026.

Bulog’s monitoring shows that in many traditional markets, Minyakita prices are still holding steady at the government’s Highest Retail Price (HET) of Rp15,700 per liter. However, supplies at traders’ stalls are extremely limited and sell out almost immediately upon arrival.

Vendors report frustration over stagnant stock levels despite consistently high consumer demand.

Minyakita is a government-subsidized cooking oil distributed under the DMO scheme. Bulog receives 35% of the national DMO allocation, of which 70% is managed directly by Bulog while the remainder is shared with ID Food and Agrinas Palma Nusantara. The program targets middle- to lower-income households and traditional market traders.

The stock depletion stems from a sharp rise in demand, partly driven by the government’s recent social assistance program that includes cooking oil distributions. Distribution has also been delayed in some areas due to the mandatory Business Identification Number (NIB) requirement for retail traders.

Once Kemendag approves the additional quota, Bulog will intensify coordination with distributors and upstream producers to speed up deliveries to markets.

The government continues to monitor the situation closely to ensure prices do not exceed the HET and to prevent misuse, such as bundling or selling Minyakita above the official price.
