EN.Malanginspirasi.com – Payment of the Tunjangan Hari Raya (THR), or religious holiday allowance, to workers in Indonesia’s private sector is mandatory no later than two weeks before Eid al-Fitr 2026. This requirement is not just an advisory but an integral part of the regulations from the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker), which has been shared with the House of Representatives (DPR) to ensure employees can properly prepare for their Lebaran needs.
According to Ministerial Regulation Number 6 of 2016 on THR, the allowance must be disbursed at least seven days before the religious holiday.
However, for this year, the government is stressing an earlier payment on H-14 (14 days prior) to prevent delays and bolster worker well-being amid economic difficulties. THR is granted to employees who have worked for at least one month, with a minimum value of one month’s salary for those with 12 months or more of service, and prorated for shorter periods.
DPR Commission IX member Irma Suryani emphasized this in a statement in Jakarta on February 21, 2026.
“If the regulation issued by the Ministry of Manpower and already communicated to Commission IX states that THR must be paid at the latest two weeks before the holiday, this must be enforced by the Ministry. Anyone who violates it should face sanctions,” she said, as reported by ANTARA News.
Breaches of this obligation can lead to administrative or criminal penalties. Workers who do not receive their THR on time can report the matter to the THR complaint posts set up by Kemnaker. The focus on early disbursement aims to avert conflicts between labor and companies, while also promoting safe homecoming arrangements for millions of workers.
Companies are advised to allocate THR funds ahead of time to adhere to the rules and foster positive employee relations.
