Malanginspirasi.com – In a series of events marking the Malang Fiesta Mbois, Mayor of Malang (Wali Kota) Wahyu Hidayat officially inaugurated the city’s newest sports facility, “Mbois Gym,” located on the second floor of the Malang Creative Center (MCC) on Saturday, May 10, 2025. The inauguration was part of the flagship program “Dasa Bhakti” titled “Ngalam Tahes,” which focuses on promoting a healthy and collaborative lifestyle among the community.
The event served as a bridge between the STMJ Exercise and the Health Seminar activities, attended by key officials from the Malang City Government, including Regional Secretary (Sekda) Erik Setyo Santoso and Head of the Health Department, Husnul Muarif.
In his remarks, Wahyu Hidayat emphasized that the establishment of Mbois Gym reflects the Malang City Government’s commitment to creating a healthy, inclusive, and modern city.
He stressed that this initiative is not just a sports facility but also a symbol of collaboration between the government, communities, and individuals.
“This is a step to strengthen solidarity and togetherness for a Malang that is both Mbois and classy,” Wahyu said.
He also appreciated the event as a momentum for changing the community’s lifestyle toward a healthier and more productive direction.
“I highly appreciate this initiative. Hopefully, it will inspire the residents to live healthier lives for a better future of Malang,” he added.
Following his speech, Wahyu Hidayat officially opened Mbois Gym by cutting a ribbon and personally testing several exercise machines.
He reiterated that Mbois Gym is the only government-owned gym in the area. Designed as an affordable fitness center alternative for Malang residents.
“This is the government’s effort to provide low-cost fitness facilities for the community,” he explained.

Affordable for Public
Mbois Gym is the result of a collaboration between the Malang City Government and various Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD), such as the Health Department, DLH, Bappeda, and the general affairs department, and is managed professionally.
Until a Regional Regulation sets the tariffs, the gym services remain free for the public.
Meanwhile, Sekda Erik Setyo Santoso, called on the community to utilize the gym facility wisely and maintain its sustainability.
He mentioned that while fees will eventually be introduced, the rates will remain highly affordable for the general public.
“People now has access to health facilities that can be used at any time. Let’s utilize and maintain these facilities together,” he said.
In line with Erik, Head of the Health Department, Husnul Muarif, added that the presence of Mbois Gym is an initial step toward changing unhealthy lifestyle patterns still prevalent in Malang’s community.
“With this facility, we encourage behavioral changes in the community to lead healthier lives in the future,” Husnul remarked.
