en.malanginspirasi.com – President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, described Indonesia as a key partner for his country in the Asia-Pacific region.
Putin made this statement while meeting with the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, in Vladivostok, Russia, on Thursday (September 3, 2026).
“Indonesia is a key partner for Russia in the Asia-Pacific region. We have been bound by friendly relations for many years,” said President Putin.
Putin noted that the relationship between Indonesia and Russia rests on a strong foundation of friendship and continues to grow, including in the trade sector. He mentioned that the trade volume between the two countries increased by 12 percent last year.
According to Putin, bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Russia continues to be developed through the Russia-Indonesia Joint Commission on economic, trade, and technical cooperation.
Several sectors are the focus of cooperation between the two countries, including agriculture, shipbuilding, digital technology, and energy—specifically nuclear energy.
Furthermore, Putin identified Indonesia as one of Russia’s trusted friends within the ASEAN framework. Both countries also continue to strengthen cooperation across various international platforms, including the United Nations.

“I am confident that today’s meeting will provide fresh momentum to the bilateral relations between our two countries,” concluded President Putin.
Meanwhile, President Prabowo emphasized that Russia is a vital partner for Indonesia. The relationship between the two nations, established over five decades ago, continues to evolve and has now been elevated to a strategic partnership.
“Indonesia and Russia share deep historical ties spanning more than five decades. For Indonesia, Russia is a vital partner. We are therefore proud and pleased that our relationship was elevated to a strategic partnership last year,” said President Prabowo.
Prabowo also expressed Indonesia’s honor in participating in the 11th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).
He noted that the forum holds great potential to serve as a bridge for strengthening cooperation and connectivity within the region.
“This forum has immense potential to act as a bridge for cooperation and connectivity in our region,” he stated.
Prabowo also highlighted the fact that both Indonesia and Russia are Pacific nations.
For Indonesia, as an archipelagic state, connectivity and maritime cooperation are key areas for continued joint development.
“We are both Pacific nations, and for us—as an archipelagic state—connectivity and maritime cooperation are of great importance,” the President remarked.
According to Prabowo, the relationship between Indonesia and Russia continues to show positive progress, including in the economic and trade sectors.
Indonesia stands ready to expand cooperation across various sectors to generate mutual benefits for both nations.
“Indonesia remains committed to enhancing cooperation in all areas to achieve mutual benefits for our two countries,” said President Prabowo. “We are prepared to further strengthen this cooperation.
