Quran Recitation Performances Enliven UIN Malang's 64th Dies Maulidiyah

Malanginspirasi.com – UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang marked the pinnacle of its 64th Dies Maulidiyah celebration with an istighotsah and grand public lecture featuring Dr. KH. Anas A-Hifni, S.E.I, M.S.I., on Monday, November 10, 2025. The event was a resounding success despite last-minute changes in speakers.

KH. Anas stepped in to replace Prof. Dr. KH. Abdul Ghofur, the leader of Pondok Pesantren Sunan Drajat in Lamongan, who was unable to attend due to his age.

“He is 75 years old today. He often asks to be replaced for lectures outside the city,” explained Ustadz and entrepreneur Gus Anas.

Enthusiastic Student Participation

The lecture drew thousands of enthusiastic mahasantri from Ma’had Sunan Ampel Al-Aly (MSAA). Held at the Student Center Building on UIN Malang’s Campus 1, the event commenced at 6:00 PM WIB.

Attendees included Drs. H. Basri, M.A., Ph.D., Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs; Prof. Dr. H. Triyo Supriyatno, M.Ag., Vice Rector III for Student Affairs; deans, Ma’had supervisors, and MSAA mahasantri.

The program began with an istighotsah recitation led by Dr. KH. Muhammad Aulul Hakim, M.H. This was followed by a collective sholawat performance by UPKM JDFI (Unit Pengembangan Kreativitas Mahasantri Jam’iyyah Da’wah Wa Al Fann Al Islamy) to bridge the segments.

The second part opened with a recitation of the Holy Quran by Dina Rahmatun Najma Jamil, a UIN Malang student. Vice Rector I, Drs. H. Basri, then delivered the welcoming remarks and official opening, substituting for Rector Prof. Dr. Hj. Ilfi Nur Diana, M.Si., who was on duty.

“Two days ago, she received an order from Commission 8 for an audience to discuss issues related to PTKIN, so she departed for Jakarta this morning at 9 AM,” the Vice Rector I clarified.

Core Lecture: Five Keys to Success from Surah Ali Imran Verse 17

In the highlight of the evening, Gus Anas delivered a mauidhoh hasanah on five keys to success drawn from Surah Ali Imran verse 17: patience, honesty, obedience, generosity, and seeking forgiveness in the pre-dawn hours.

The verse reads:

“(Namely) those who are steadfast, truthful, obedient, charitable, and seek forgiveness before dawn.” (QS. Ali ‘Imran 3:17)

Door Prizes and Lively Conclusion

Gus Anas distributed special gifts to mahasantri who correctly answered his questions, adding excitement to the session.

Rather than dispersing early, participants grew even more engaged toward the end as UIN Malang held a door prize draw for selected coupon holders.

This istighotsah and grand lecture concluded the series of 64th Dies Maulidiyah events.

“We have conducted several activities, including seminars, sports competitions, and cooking contests,” noted Vice Rector I.

The organizing committee expressed hope that the prayers and aspirations voiced through the istighotsah would facilitate the realization of everyone’s goals, including those of parents and UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang itself.

Captivating Performances by Hafidz Quran

In addition to the istighotsah and grand lecture, the 64th Dies Maulidiyah celebration at UIN Malang was further enlivened by captivating Quran recitation performances.

Mahasantri from various majors and regions were given the opportunity to take the stage and recite verses from the Holy Quran that they had memorized.

In their recitations, the mahasantri demonstrated extraordinary skills in interpreting the sacred verses of the Quran.

Many mahasantri lined up eagerly, competing for a chance to perform on stage.

Thousands of attendees applauded enthusiastically, expressing their admiration and appreciation for the (Hafidz) Quran memorizers’ performances.

“I learned so much, especially about applying the Quran in daily life. This place is truly amazing—there are so many Quran memorizers who not only know the verses but also their interpretations, even from the beginning of each juz. Truly remarkable,” said Halimatus Sa’diyah, a Biology student at UIN Malang.

The mahasantri also had the chance to directly practice Islamic teachings from the Quran during the event.

One example was giving charity from their wealth to those in need.

“He gave sincerely, while also teaching the students to share and receive blessings in return,” Halimatus added.

This moment instilled great hope for UIN Malang’s future as an ulul albab campus—one that strengthens both scholarly excellence and Islamic spirit.

One attending mahasantri, Sabrina Aulia from the Arabic Language Education program at the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, expressed her gratitude and aspirations for the university’s progress.

“May UIN Malang continue to grow, achieve greater success, and reach new heights,” she said.

Echoing the sentiment, Novia Aulia from the Islamic Religious Education program also hoped UIN Malang would remain at the forefront.

“Continued success to UIN Malang—may it always thrive and prosper,” she concluded.
