FEB UMM Collaborates with Curtin University to Enhance International Accreditation

Malanginspirasi.com – As part of its commitment to internationalization, the Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (FEB UMM) is taking significant steps to enhance its quality and recognition in the global academic sphere. Despite FEB UMM already boasts an “Excellent” accreditation and several of its programs have acquired international accreditation from FIBAA, the faculty is continually striving to expand its recognition.

In line with this ambition, FEB UMM recently hosted an International Benchmarking Scientific Forum in collaboration with Curtin University, Australia.

Taking place in early February, the forum was dedicated to the theme “International Enhancing Program: Fostering FEB to Become a Global Standard Faculty.”

This event featured Yuningsih, Ph.D., CPA, as the keynote speaker. Yuningsih shared insightful knowledge and strategies aimed at guiding FEB UMM towards achieving international standards.

The event drew the attendance of all faculty members from FEB UMM. Each playing a crucial role in supporting the institution’s overarching goal: to obtain accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

In her presentation, several key components were outlined as essential prerequisites for achieving AACSB accreditation. These included a thorough self-evaluation process, a demonstrated commitment to strategic management, a focus on student success, and an emphasis on social impact.

Moreover, the process necessitates the promotion of ethical conduct, fostering a collegial environment, and addressing corporate social responsibility issues.

Additional critical factors involve fulfilling benchmarks related to strategic planning, physical and virtual resources, financial sustainability, as well as staffing and professional development.

International Standards

Prof. Dr. Idah Zuhroh, M.M., Dean of FEB UMM, highlighted the significance of enhancing the quality and international standards of education.

“Through this activity, we hope to strengthen our strategic steps toward AACSB accreditation, which represents one of the highest accolades for business education institutions globally,” she stated.

The forum also served a dual purpose, not only enriching academic perspectives but also to establish international collaborative networks.

Curtin University, as a benchmarking partner, shared its experiences and best practices in securing international accreditation. Including effective human resource management, enhancing teaching quality, and bolstering relevant global research.

Through this Scientific Forum, FEB UMM further solidifies its position as a faculty poised to compete on a global scale. The initiative is anticipated to provide a robust foundation for pursuing AACSB accreditation and improving the competitiveness of its graduates in the international job market.
