The 52-year-old González, a former Argentina international who briefly shared the pitch with Lionel Messi during 2005 World Cup qualifiers, will take over once he secures the necessary U.S. work permits.
In the meantime, current coach Guillermo Hoyos will remain in provisional charge.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the deal was done shortly before the official announcement, writing that an agreement was in place with the formal reveal expected within 24 hours.
