Kaesang Pangarep Visits Malang, Focuses on Youth Development

Malanginspirasi.com – The General Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), Kaesang Pangarep, conducted a series of visits to East Java, including Malang, on Friday, April 25, 2025. The youngest son of the seventh President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, visited both Malang Regency (Kabupaten) and Malang City (Kota) to foster good relations with the local government leaders.

Mr. Pangarep’s initial engagement was a meeting with Regent (Bupati) Malang, HM Sanusi, held at the Pendopo Agung Kabupaten Malang, located on Jalan Agus Salim no. 7, in Malang City.

Bupati Sanusi extended a warm welcome to the PSI Chairman.

During the visit to the Pendopo Agung, Kaesang was accompanied by Malang’s Deputy Mayor (Wakil Wali Kota), Ali Muthohirin, a PSI cadre, and the Chairman of the PSI East Java Regional Management Board (DPW), F Bagus Panuntun, who also serves as Deputy Mayor of Madiun.

Speaking to the press, Mr. Pangarep emphasized that the purpose of his visit was purely to nurture relationships, particularly in the post-Eid al-Fitr period.

“It’s about strengthening ties, especially after Eid al-Fitr. It’s a good time to connect and engage in halal bi halal [a tradition of seeking forgiveness]. There were absolutely no political discussions,” he stated.

Echoing Kaesang’s sentiments, Bupati Sanusi also affirmed that the PSI Chairman’s visit was solely intended to strengthen bonds during the festive season.

Following the meeting with the Sanusi, Mr. Pangarep proceeded to the Malang City Mayor’s (Wali Kota) official residence, located on Jalan Ijen no. 2, Gading Kasri Village, Klojen District, Malang City. There, he engaged in further dialogue and cultivated rapport with Malang Mayor, Wahyu Hidayat.

During his meeting with Wali Kota Wahyu Hidayat, Kaesang conveyed the importance of developing the potential of the younger generation in Kota Malang.

Wahyu Hidayat shared that he and Ali Muthohirin had already formulated a number of flagship programs, primarily targeting young people.

“We have developed leading programs geared toward fostering a creative industry ecosystem, including sectors like performances, entertainment, popular events, and tourism development,” emphasized Mr. Hidayat.

These programs are designed to maximize the potential of young people, considering Kota Malang boasts a significant student population, almost equivalent to its overall population.

One noteworthy flagship program is the “1000 events” initiative, specifically tailored to attract the interest and participation of young people in Malang City.
