Malang Mayor Inaugurates SPPG Sukoharjo 2: A Modern Heritage-Based Nutrition Kitchen

EN.malanginspirasi.com – Malang Mayor Wahyu Hidayat officially inaugurated the Sukoharjo 2 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) on Friday, March 27, 2026. The inauguration, attended together with the Director of Monitoring and Supervision from the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), was followed by a direct inspection of the operational processes to ensure all stages comply with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

Wahyu expressed his appreciation for the quality of the Sukoharjo 2 SPPG facilities, which beautifully combine historical heritage values with modern spatial design. The historic building is now equipped with advanced facilities and infrastructure that support hygienic food production.

“From the cooking process, temperature control, to cleanliness, everything already meets the SOP indicators. Even the food packaging is carried out quickly and in a structured manner, where each staff member has their own responsibilities without overlapping,” said Wahyu Hidayat.

He also highlighted the excellent equipment cleaning system. After distribution, all utensils are cleaned using pressurized hot water and sterilized at high temperatures reaching 130 degrees Celsius, effectively killing bacteria.

According to Wahyu, the work stages implemented at SPPG Sukoharjo 2 can serve as a model for other SPPG units in Malang City. He hopes that strict standards regarding cleanliness, food safety, and nutritional content will be applied evenly across all facilities.

“This shows that the process of providing food for beneficiaries is not simple. There are strict stages that must be fulfilled to guarantee quality and sterility,” he emphasized.

Serving 600 People Daily

Currently, the Malang City Government is targeting 87 SPPG points, with 75 points already operating. SPPG Sukoharjo 2 serves approximately 600 beneficiaries, although its production capacity can still be increased. The kitchen is capable of cooking rice for up to 700 portions in just one hour, with production carried out in three batches every morning so that the food can be immediately distributed and consumed fresh.

The program primarily focuses on students, while also covering the 3B group (pregnant mothers, breastfeeding mothers, and toddlers). Overall, the number of beneficiaries of the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) in Malang City has reached approximately 170,000 people.

The Mayor expressed hope that with the continuous increase in the number and quality of SPPG units, the community nutrition fulfillment program can run optimally and deliver real impact on improving the quality of human resources in Malang.
