The South Korean player has signed a two-season contract with the expectation of becoming a key addition to the Kemayoran Tigers’ attacking strength thanks to his experience and ability to play in multiple positions.
Kwon is known as a left-footed player who can operate as a right winger, left winger, or attacking midfielder.
This versatility gives the coaching team more options in implementing various game plans.
The player, born in Seoul on June 30, 1994, began his professional career with Suwon Samsung Bluewings.
His impressive performances in South Korea later opened up opportunities to continue his career in Europe.
Kwon previously played for Dijon FCO in the French Ligue 1 and SC Freiburg in the German Bundesliga.
After returning to South Korea, he played for Gimcheon Sangmu, Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, and Jeju SK before embarking on a new challenge with Persija.
Kwon’s experience extends beyond club football. He has a long track record with the South Korean national team, having made 43 appearances and scored 12 goals.

Kwon was also part of the Taegeuk Warriors squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Throughout his career, Kwon has made over 340 official appearances and scored over 50 goals at both club and national level.
He was also twice selected to the K League 1 Best XI, in the 2015 and 2016 seasons.
Persija President, Mohamad Prapanca, believes Kwon’s experience, technical skills, and versatility will have a positive impact on the team.
“Kwon is a player with extensive experience. He has played in top European competitions, represented the South Korean National Team, and competed at the highest level of international football. His presence is expected to add creativity and variety to the attack, and help Persija achieve its goals this season,” said Prapanca.
Prapanca also hopes Kwon can quickly adapt to the team, the competition, and the Indonesian football atmosphere.
“We believe Kwon’s quality and mentality will have a positive impact on Persija. Coach Shin’s presence is expected to help Kwon adapt more quickly so he can quickly show his best abilities with the team,” he continued.

“For me, this is a big challenge. When I was still playing in South Korea, I saw Coach Shin Tae-yong working in Indonesia. I also saw that Indonesian football was experiencing significant development. This gave me a positive view of Indonesian football and Persija. That’s why I decided to come here,” he said.
