EN.malanginspirasi.com – PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) has recorded sales of 1,398,369 train tickets for the 2026 Lebaran travel period as of February 16, 2026, at 10:00 AM WIB. Sales continue to rise dynamically since bookings opened on February 15, with many seats still available across various dates and routes.
KAI Vice President of Public Relations, Anne Purba, said the booking process remains fluid.
“All departure dates during the 2026 Lebaran period are now open for booking, and we encourage the public to plan their trips early,” she stated.
The 2026 Lebaran travel period runs for 22 days, from March 11 to April 1, covering both the outbound (mudik) and return journeys for Idul Fitri, expected to fall on March 21–22, 2026. The most popular departure dates so far are March 24 (around 99,000 tickets sold) and March 23.
To handle the surge in passengers, KAI is operating dozens of additional trains, including up to 60 extra services on high-demand routes such as Jakarta–Surabaya, Jakarta–Yogyakarta, and the reverse directions. In the Daop 8 Surabaya region alone, approximately 200,000 seats are available, some with special discounts.
The government and KAI are also offering discounts of up to 30 percent on selected departures between March 14 and 29, 2026. Discounted tickets went on sale starting February 11, 2026, at 00:01 AM WIB and remain available.
Plenty of Seats Still Available
Passengers can purchase tickets through the Access by KAI app, the official booking.kai.id website, call center 121, or official partners such as tiket.com. Sales follow the H-45 rule, meaning tickets for a specific date open 45 days in advance at 00:00 AM daily.
Despite growing demand, KAI confirms that seats are still widely available, especially outside peak dates.
“Our priority is safety and comfort, with thorough track inspections and extra staff during the Lebaran monitoring post from March 14 to 29, 2026,” Anne added.
For those who have not yet secured tickets, KAI recommends checking availability regularly, as cancellations or additional seats may become available.
Trains remain a top choice for Lebaran travel due to their safety, reliability, and affordability, under this year’s slogan “Mudik Aman Berkesan” (Safe and Memorable Homecoming).
