Super Smart Competition 2025: HMPS PGSD UNIKAMA Hosts Talent Event at Malang Town Square

Malanginspirasi.com – The Student Association of the Primary School Teacher Education Program (HMPS PGSD) at Universitas PGRI Kanjuruhan Malang (UNIKAMA) organized its annual flagship event, the Super Smart Competition 2025, held at Malang Town Square (Matos) on Monday, December 15, 2025.

The event carried the theme “Berpadu dalam Seni, Bersinar dalam Prestasi” (United in Art, Shining in Achievement), served as a platform for developing artistic talents among elementary school children and the general public.

The Super Smart Competition 2025 was organized in collaboration with Gracia Party Organizer and Matos, with additional support from Malang Music Course (MMC) as a partner in the field of music arts.

A New Innovation: Moving Beyond Campus

Unlike previous years, when the event was held only on campus, this year the organizing committee stepped out of their comfort zone by hosting it at a shopping center to bring the event closer to the community.

Yolanda Devinta Olga Popilaya, Chair of HMPS PGSD UNIKAMA, explained that the Super Smart Competition has been a core program since the association’s inception.

However, 2025 marked a new milestone as it was the first time the event was held in a public space.

“Initially, the Super Smart Competition was only held on campus. This year, we had the opportunity to collaborate with external parties. So we tried hosting it off-campus to reach a wider audience and step out of our comfort zone,” said Yolanda.

The competition featured solo singing and coloring contests for elementary school levels.

As a city-level event, it aimed to discover talented children in the arts.

Additionally, an open-category solo singing contest was scheduled for the following day, Tuesday, December 16, 2025, open to junior high, high school students, university students, and the general public up to age 25.

A Platform for Creativity

Yolanda emphasized that, as future primary school teachers, PGSD students feel a responsibility to provide a safe and positive space for elementary children to develop their talents and creativity.

“We are here to provide a platform for children to explore their abilities and interests. Especially in the arts,” she explained.

However, hosting the event at a shopping center presented its own challenges.

The committee had to adapt to the designated area provided by mall management.

Participant numbers also saw a slight decline compared to previous years, with 18 entrants in the coloring contest and 12 in the elementary singing contest.

Winners received trophies, coaching funds, sponsor merchandise, and certificates. Judges were carefully selected, including lecturers and art professionals, to ensure objective and credible evaluations.

Yolanda hopes the event will channel participants’ talents effectively.

“Our hope is that the children feel joy from expressing their talents. For us, seeing them bravely perform and develop their creativity is already a great success,” she concluded.

Through the Super Smart Competition 2025, HMPS PGSD UNIKAMA aims to continue contributing to the development of a creative, confident, and high-achieving younger generation through the arts.
