en.malanginspirasi.com – Principal Expert Advisor to the Executive Office of the President, Ulta Levenia has drawn sharp criticism after suggesting that the U.S. HAARP research facility in Alaska may have triggered a series of volcanic eruptions across the country in early September 2026.
Associated with Indonesia’s Government Communications Agency, she publicly floated the idea that the High-frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP) could be responsible for activity at six volcanoes, including Anak Krakatau and Mount Semeru, around September 6-7.
She pointed to HAARP’s historical military ties and its research into the ionosphere, while acknowledging she had no scientific evidence to support the claim.
The comments came shortly after Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto met Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Indonesia sits on the Pacific Ring of Fire, a highly active tectonic zone where volcanic eruptions and earthquakes are common.
Geological experts quickly rejected the HAARP theory, attributing the recent eruptions to natural tectonic processes rather than any human-made technology.

Social media users and prominent critics mocked the suggestion.
Andrew Darwis, founder of the Indonesian forum Kaskus, was among those dismissing the idea, stressing that HAARP has no capacity to influence geological activity and calling for an end to the promotion of unfounded conspiracy theories.
In this case, HAARP itself maintains that its work is limited to studying the upper atmosphere and ionosphere.
Official statements from the program have long clarified that it does not—and cannot—affect weather patterns, earthquakes, or volcanic activity.
The episode has fueled online debate in Indonesia about the spread of conspiracy theories involving foreign technology, particularly in the wake of high-profile diplomatic meetings.
Scientists continue to monitor the volcanoes through standard geological channels, underscoring that the country’s volcanic activity remains a natural and expected feature of its location on the Ring of Fire.
