en.Malanginspirasi.com – The Raden Patah Mosque (MRP) of Brawijaya University (UB) successfully held a special tarawih prayer service titled ‘Meneguhkan Hati dan Integrasi di Persimpangan Global’ (Strengthening Hearts and Integration at Global Crossroads) with Anies Rasyid Baswedan, S.E., M.P.P, Ph.D., on March 10, 2026 evening.
At the tarawih prayer in the MRP main hall, he emphasized that Indonesia is experiencing an integrity deficit.
“Integrity is a problem. Don’t imagine integrity will only happen after you have a position. Integrity begins at home, on campus, and in organizations. Integrity is cultivated through leadership without exploiting your position, writing reports honestly, and keeping promises,” Anies said.
For Baswedan, Indonesia needs people of integrity who possess strong physical, moral, and intellectual stamina.
“Traveling the straight path can be tiring, fraught with defeat, and even failure. But that’s where we are truly forged and strengthened to strengthen ourselves,” he added.
After delivering his opening remarks, the former Jakarta Mayor continued the dialogue session with the audience.
Many audience members who attended tarawih prayer in the main mosque of UB expressed their concerns and sought to find solutions from Anies Baswedan.
The first concern concerned the overwhelming surge of information on social media that creates confusion.
“The strongest bulwark against the flood of information and disinformation is critical thinking. People spread hoaxes because the information they receive is not scrutinized. Critical thinking skills are a learning capacity for the future. People who think critically will see things from another perspective, raising honest and unthinkable questions,” he answered.

The second concern related on how to strengthen one’s heart in a workplace that may be far from integrity.
Anies shared a formula; K (trust) = K1 (kompetensi or competence) + I (integritas or Integrity) + K2 (kedekatan or closeness) – KP (Kepentingan pribadi or personal interest).
“A person may have good accomplishment and possess high integrity. But if he mixes personal interests with their own, he will lose the trust of others. Publc will follow us because we are trustworthy,” Anies added.
The next concern is how to maintain integrity amidst criminalization, as there are increasing legal incidents involving public officials while carrying out their duties.
“The way to protect yourself from criminalization is to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs). This way, the scope for criminalization is very small.”
At the end of the session, Anies advised young people to project their human resource (HR) competitors in the future and use their mobile phones as a tool to build their future.
“In the future, there will be global market integration. Your competitors will not only be alumni of the same alma mater, but from all over the world, foreign graduates who bring new knowledge, global networks, and international language skills. So, let’s use this mobile phone to build the future, not to preserve the past,” Anies concluded.
