EN.malanginspirasi.com – Indonesia’s National Police Chief (Kapolri), General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, personally inspected Terminal Tipe A Purabaya in Bungurasih, Sidoarjo, East Java, on Sunday, March 15, 2026. The visit was aimed at directly assessing the readiness of security measures and public services in preparation for the upcoming Lebaran 2026 homecoming (mudik) rush.
During the inspection, the Kapolri observed a clear upward trend in the number of passengers already beginning their journeys. He forecasted that the increase would continue and reach its peak between March 17 and 20, 2026, consistent with the national pattern of mudik occurring in several waves.
The police chief also took time to engage directly with travelers using bus services at the terminal.
“We had a good interaction with people who are traveling by bus for mudik — both short-distance within the city and long-haul inter-provincial or inter-island trips, including to Bali,” said General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

He underlined the importance of rigorous supervision at terminals, including mandatory ramp checks on buses and urine tests for drivers. These measures, he said, are vital to guarantee passenger safety throughout the journey.
“We always remind everyone that this year’s mudik must reduce the number of traffic accidents. Our hope is that all travelers arrive safely in their hometowns, reunite with family, and celebrate the joy of Lebaran together,” he added.
To achieve the target of zero accidents, the Kapolri instructed all police personnel stationed at the terminal to deliver the highest standard of service and respond immediately to any complaints from the public regarding safety or service quality.
“Synergy across sectoral agencies is the main key to providing maximum mudik services that truly meet public expectations,” he emphasized.
In a special message directed at bus drivers, the Kapolri stressed safety first:
“Be careful on the road. If you feel tired, stop and rest immediately. For long-distance trips, please prepare reserve drivers so we can avoid any unwanted incidents along the way,” he said.
