Prabowo Subianto Sets Ride-Hailing Company’s Maximum Commission from Drivers

en.malanginspirasi.com – President Prabowo Subianto emphasized the government’s commitment to improving the welfare of online transportation (ojol) drivers by setting ride-hailing company’s maximum commission from drivers.

It includes fairer revenue sharing and stronger social protection.

He made this statement while attending the International Labor Day commemoration at the National Monument (Monas) Square in Jakarta on Friday, May 1, 2026.

In his remarks,  Prabowo highlighted the significant deductions currently imposed by applicator companies on drivers.

He mentioned that there should be reduction for the sake of fairness for workers.

“Ojol drivers work hard, risking their lives every day. The applicator companies are asking for 20 percent. What about ojol drivers? Do you agree with 20 percent? How about 15 percent? How much? 10 percent? You want 10 percent? Yes. I’m saying here, I don’t agree with 10 percent. It must be below 10 percent. It’s just so easy; you sweat, you get the money. Sorry. If you don’t want to join us, don’t bother trying to operate in Indonesia,” he emphasized.

As a concrete step, Prabowo stated that the government has established a policy through Presidential Regulation Number 27 of 2026 concerning the Protection of Online Transportation Workers.

This regulation stipulates increased protection for drivers, including social security and a more favorable income distribution for workers.

“I said earlier that they must be provided with work accident insurance, BPJS Kesehatan (Social Security Agency for Health), and health insurance. Also, income distribution has gone from 80 percent for drivers to a minimum of 92 percent,” he explained.

On that occasion, the President also outlined various other policies aimed at improving workers’ welfare in general.

They include  increasing the minimum wage, providing subsidized housing for workers, providing holiday bonuses for drivers and couriers, and expanding employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

The government is also providing social security contribution relief, including discounts of up to 50 percent for work accident insurance and death insurance for non-wage workers.
