en.malanginspirasi.com – The government will immediately seek alternative energy sources on accelerating the transition from liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to compressed natural gas (CNG) while also reaffirmed its commitment to not raising the price of subsidized fuel and LPG.
President Prabowo Subianto ordered the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, to take this strategic step as the primary focus is to strengthen national energy security.
The government takes this strategic step as a responsive effort to mitigate the impact of global geopolitical uncertainty, which has not yet subsided.
This effort is to maintain the purchasing power of lower-income communities amidst global economic challenges.
“Coincidentally, we see geopolitical developments that are not yet resolved. The President has ordered an immediate search for alternative energy sources. Our current focus is accelerating the transition from LPG to CNG,” said ESDM Minister Bahlil Lahadalia in an official statement.

Regarding energy pricing policy, Bahlil confirmed that price adjustments will only apply to the non-subsidized sector, whose movements follow market mechanisms.
Conversely, consumers of subsidized commodities will certainly not be burdened by price hikes.
“We are stating that the prices of subsidized fuel and LPG will remain unchanged. Meanwhile, non-subsidized fuel is for our brothers and sisters who have far better economic means than those who must be subsidized,” said Bahlil Lahadalia, explaining the policy’s formulation.
In the electricity sector, Bahlil also denied rumors of coal shortages, which had been feared to disrupt the national electricity supply.
He emphasized that the fulfillment of the domestic market obligation (DMO) for coal had reached 170 million tons, so stocks were considered very secure.
The supply disruptions that occurred in several regions were purely caused by technical problems with the generating machines owned by PT PLN (Persero).
