Turen Istimewa 2026 Cultural Event Strengthens Turen as a Cultural Barometer Through Early Childhood Education

en.malanginspirasi.com – The annual Turen Istimewa cultural event will return to Gunung Kembar Stadium, Jalan Stadion Timur No. 47, Turen, Malang Regency, from August 29 to September 5, 2026.

Entering its fourth edition, the festival carries the overarching theme ‘URIP IKU URUP – Igniting Heritage, Igniting Togetherness.’

Its  particular focus on introducing culture from an early age through the tradition of earth almsgiving and reaffirming Turen District as a leading barometer for cultural figures.

Gugun, the Committee Chair and cultural activist, explained that the “Urip Iku Urup” philosophy was designed not to be a fleeting slogan, but rather a sustainable movement so that life can benefit and be a light for others.

From Turen, this event is strategically positioned as a meeting point for South Malang culture and a gateway to community creativity.

“Turen is not just a place, but a meeting place for culture, mutual cooperation, MSMEs, art, and the younger generation. Through this spirit, everyone is invited to be a light that enlivens their surroundings,” said Gugun on Monday, August 31, 2026.

He added that the Turen area is designed as a collaborative space across various elements, from villages, schools, communities, MSMEs, and artists, to transform it into an annual cultural tourism destination that is a source of regional pride.

The essence of this movement is strengthened by Beni Gigih, an early childhood cultural activist from a dance studio.

According to Beni, Turen Istimewa 4 (2026) was formulated to address various real needs within the community, particularly in instilling a love of cultural roots in children from an early age through traditions such as the earth charity.

“This step not only aims to preserve local traditions and strengthen mutual cooperation, but also to revive the historical narrative that Turen District is a home and barometer for cultural figures and artists,” Beni emphasized.

Through the consistency of the common thread carried every year, it is hoped that Turen Istimewa will not just stop as an entertainment spectacle, but will instead become a living cultural movement, rooted in the younger generation, and have a real impact on the wider community.
