Malanginspirasi.com – The Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) successfully held Biopreneur Day 2025 on Tuesday, 25 November 2025, at the Biology Building B21.
Carrying the theme “Bridging Biology to Empower Young Innovators in Entrepreneurship,” this annual event serves as a platform for fifth-semester students to exhibit and sell innovative products developed through their Entrepreneurship course.

Ajeng Daniarsih, S.Si., M.Si., the course lecturer, explained that Biopreneur Day has now been held for the fifth time and is a direct outcome of the Entrepreneurship curriculum.
“This is the fifth event which serves as direct learning from the entrepreneurship course,” she stated.
Students do not merely display their products; the event also opens doors to further entrepreneurial competitions.
“Here, students showcase products, engage in sales, create posters, produce Intellectual Property Rights (HKI), and even already possess e-commerce platforms. So, this is not just about fulfilling course obligations, but can lead to competitions like P2MW, PKMK, and other entrepreneurship grants,” Ajeng further explained.

This year, around 60 teams from six class offerings participated, judged by eight jurors across various categories.
The event involved students from both the Pure Biology and Biology Education study programs.
Ajeng emphasized the strong support from the faculty and department for student entrepreneurship initiatives.
“FMIPA fully supports this entrepreneurship program. We want to instill an entrepreneurial mindset in our students. If they can succeed while still young, why wait until graduation?” she said.
Detailed Assessment Categories
The assessment categories were made more detailed than in previous years. The Chief Executive, Vina Ayu Faiza from the Pure Biology 2023 program, explained that new category divisions were introduced this year.
“There are separate food-and-beverage categories divided by study program, then a non-food-and-beverage category, and posters are also judged separately,” said Vina.
In addition, she explained, every class is required to present a performance.

The ‘Cilemboost’ Booth
One booth that attracted significant attention in the food-and-beverage category was Cilemboost, offering healthy brownies made from cilembu sweet potato and moringa leaves.
Team member Shofa Kamila A’Yunina shared the inspiration behind the product:
“It started because I have anemia and regularly take iron supplements. But many of my friends with anemia dislike the taste of those supplements. After researching, I discovered moringa leaves are rich in iron, so I decided to create brownies combining them with cilembu sweet potato.”

Cilemboost brownies contain no wheat flour and use diabetes-friendly Diabetesol sweetener. Additional ingredients include almond butter, dark chocolate, and moringa powder.
“The texture is fudgy, not overly sweet, and you can’t taste any bitterness from the moringa. The only slight bitterness comes from the dark chocolate itself,” Shofa explained.
Biopreneur Day 2025 is more than just a product exhibition, it served as a launching pad for students to take their first steps as young entrepreneurs.. The hope is that the products born from this activity will develop further and become sustainable business opportunities.
