en.malanginspirasi.com – Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki has expressed his excitement and pride after completing a transfer to Aston Villa from Italian side Parma.
His move is making history as the first Japanese men’s player to represent the club.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper completed the transfer process on Wednesday following an impressive stint in Serie A and a standout international campaign.
He started all four matches for Japan at this summer’s FIFA World Cup.
Suzuki follows in the footsteps of Mana Iwabuchi, Maya Hijikata, and fellow goalkeeper Akane Okuma, who have all represented Villa’s women’s team, but he stands alone as the pioneer for the men’s senior side.
Speaking in his first interview with VillaTV, Suzuki described the move as a major milestone in his career, noting that the club’s consistent ambition to compete for trophies aligned perfectly with his own goals.
“I want to play at the highest level and that’s why I’ve decided to come here,” he mentioned.

He highlighted his desire to test himself at the highest level and fulfill a lifelong dream of playing in the Premier League.
“I’m so proud of that,” he said. “I want to make some history at this great club and I’m really looking forward to playing on the pitch.”
Suzuki brings diverse international experience to Villa Park, having previously played in Japan, Belgium, and Italy.
He notably caught the attention of European clubs after a star performance in March, keeping a clean sheet in Japan’s 1-0 victory over England at Wembley.
Looking ahead to his debut season, Suzuki emphasized his eagerness to adapt quickly to English football, help the team maintain its momentum, and connect with the Villa fanbase as he begins his new journey in Birmingham.
