FP UB and VSUI Philippines Strengthen Collaboration on Sustainable Agribusiness

Malanginspirasi.com – The Faculty of Agriculture, Brawijaya University (FP UB) has further expanded its international network by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Visayas State University, Isabel, Leyte (VSUI), Philippines.

Leaders from both institutions also attended this event that took place through via Zoom Meeting on Friday, April 24, 2026.

The VSUI Business Management Department facilitated this collaboration as the continuation that has existed since 2024 between VSUI and UB.

Previously, the two institutions have successfully organized various joint programs, such as the ICOPAG conference, virtual meetings, Virtual Summer Classes, and several international webinars.

In his remarks, M. Jheane T. Lubiano, Head of the VSUI Business Management Department, stated that this collaboration represents a crucial momentum to strengthen cross-border academic synergy.

“This collaboration not only expands academic networks but also opens up opportunities for cultural exchange and the development of innovation in sustainable agribusiness,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr. Catherine L. Chan, Chancellor of VSUI, officially delivered a statement and ratified the cooperation document.

She emphasized that this partnership is expected to encourage tangible contributions to the development of research and education, particularly in the Southeast Asian region.

At the event, Dr. Noer Rahmi Ardiarini, Vice Dean III for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Student Entrepreneurship from  FP UB  represented the Dean of FP UB.

She emphasized the importance of international collaboration as part of a strategy to improve the quality of education and the competitiveness of graduates.

“This collaboration will  strengthen student exchange programs, research collaboration, and entrepreneurship development in the agricultural sector,” she said.

The background to this collaboration is driven by a shared vision between the two institutions to develop sustainable agribusiness and expand research collaboration at the ASEAN level.

The existing relationship also demonstrates a close cultural exchange and increasingly strong academic synergy.

Eng. Darry Mhei L. Morales, Head of the VSUI International Relations Office  closed the MoU signing ceremony.

He expect the quick implementation this collaboration  through various concrete programs that would have a broad impact on both institutions.

The signing of this MoU will strengthen the strategic collaboration of FP UB and VSUI in education, research, and community service.

At the same time, this MoU can contribute to the development of a sustainable agricultural sector in the Southeast Asia region.
