en.malanginspirasi.com  – Max Verstappen needed just 14 laps and 35 minutes to overtake all 100 amateur drivers in an exhibition go-kart race at Silverstone.

The four-time Formula 1 world champion was given a maximum of 35 laps or 75 minutes to catch every participant on an adapted version of the grand prix circuit in Northamptonshire.

Verstappen, 28, made rapid progress from the opening lap. A chaotic start saw numerous drivers crash or spin, briefly bringing the race to a halt, but the Red Bull driver had already climbed to 37th by the end of the first lap.

The Dutchman continued his charge through the field and was up to 10th by the start of lap six. By lap 10, he had moved into fourth, with every driver he overtook being forced to retire from the challenge.

Verstappen warned the other participants over the race radio: “it’s not a charity event”.

The field consisted of television, sports and social media personalities, with no professional racing drivers taking part. By the time Verstappen reached fourth place, only Dutch F1 journalist Jacky Martens, Red Bull engine builder Lewis Osler and YouTuber Zac Alsop remained ahead of him.

The three were each given an additional ‘fast lap’, allowing them to cut a corner of the circuit in an attempt to stay ahead of Verstappen for as long as possible.

It proved only a temporary reprieve as Verstappen steadily closed the gap.

Martens, who had started from pole position after qualifying, was the final driver to be overtaken.

Verstappen completed the challenge with 40 minutes and 21 laps still remaining from the allotted limit.

The event highlighted the Dutchman’s long-standing connection with karting. Verstappen began his racing career in junior karting before making his way to Formula 1.

He won four consecutive F1 world titles from 2021 to 2024 and has recorded 71 grand prix victories in the championship.
