The Geological Agency recorded the event at 21:22 WIB on August 28, 2026.
The hot cloud traveled approximately 2,000 meters (2 km) southwest toward the upper reaches of the Kali Sat and Kali Putih rivers.
Seismic data showed a maximum amplitude of 87.74 mm and a duration of about 117 seconds.
Officials confirmed that Merapi remains at Level III (Siaga / Alert) status.
