SDN 1 Pakisaji Holds Class Meeting, A Refreshing Break After Semester Exams

Malanginspirasi.com – State Elementary School (SDN) 1 Pakisaji is currently hosting a class meeting event that began two days ago and continues through Thursday, December 18, 2025.

The activity involves all 393 students from grades 1 through 6, actively supported by 20 teachers who serve as coordinators and mentors.

A Refreshing Break After End-of-Semester Exams

The class meeting is held immediately following the completion of the mid-semester final exams.

According to Himawan Artistiyanto, the Physical Education teacher and Class Meeting Coordinator at SDN 1 Pakisaji, the event aims to provide students with a much-needed mental refresh after the stressful exam period.

“This class meeting is organized because the children have just finished their semester exams. We want them to feel fresh again, free from tension, and enjoy the school atmosphere through fun activities,” said Himawan.

He emphasized that participation is mandatory for all students. Despite the class meeting, the school continues its Sekolah Plus Ngaji (SPN) program, which focuses on religious education.

“We ensure the SPN program runs alongside the class meeting. Physical health is supported through sports, while spiritual well-being is nurtured via SPN. We adjust the schedule so both can proceed smoothly,” he explained.

Event Highlights

The first day featured mini soccer matches, followed by basketball on the second day, and handball competitions today.

Matches are separated by gender—boys versus boys and girls versus girls—with high enthusiasm visible as all students gather in the school yard, either competing or cheering for their classmates.

“The first day was mini soccer, the second basketball, and today handball. Each sport is completed in one day, and every class must field participants,” Himawan added.

He noted that players rotate for each event. In mini soccer, teams consist of five boys and five girls; basketball involves four boys and four girls per team; and handball features five players of each gender.

Building Trust and Team Spirit

Player selection is entirely decided by the students themselves, not the teachers. This approach aims to foster mutual trust, class unity, and respect among peers.

“With this system, children learn to trust their classmates, respect opponents, and build solidarity,” Himawan stated.

All teachers at SDN 1 Pakisaji are involved as coaches and supervisors. Himawan highlighted that the event not only benefits students but also strengthens communication, collaboration, and camaraderie among the staff.

Furthermore, the class meeting serves as a platform to identify students’ talents and interests early, particularly in non-academic areas.

“Through this event, we can spot potential in the children. For example, a grade 1 student with excellent motor coordination could be guided toward athletics. In academics, we hone skills like writing or drawing; for non-academic talents, we direct them accordingly,” he explained.

Himawan hopes the class meeting will help the school fully recognize each student’s potential, providing a foundation for future achievements and aspirations, including through merit-based pathways.
