The supernatural mystery drama centers on the King (Cho Seung Woo), who calls upon two uniquely gifted individuals to uncover the dark secrets of a cursed royal residence.

These individuals are Gu Cheon (Nam Joo Hyuk), a man capable of walking between the physical and spiritual realms, and Saeng Gang (Roh Yoon Seo), a palace court lady gifted with the ability to hear the dead.

A Glimpse Into the Core Characters

Nam Joo Hyuk (Gu Cheon) is abelled as the one “who wanders into the spirit world,” his poster radiates a powerful, commanding energy.

Positioned in the middle of a crimson, blood-soaked ethereal realm, Gu Cheon grips a distinctive sword inscribed with red characters, leaving audiences curious about the grim palace secrets he is destined to face.

“I constantly imagined the invisible spirits and the mysterious spirit world while acting. I filmed every moment pondering how to vividly convey this to viewers without making it feel alien,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Roh Yoon Seo (Saeng Gang) captures attention with her transformation into the woman “who hears the spirit whisper,” her poster shows her with blood marking her forehead as she strains to listen to unsettling, otherworldly voices.

It is these very whispers emerging from the shadows that draw her and Gu Cheon deep into the heart of the palace’s dark enigma.

“Because the narrative and storyline flow in such an interesting way, I don’t think it stops at being just a scary or flashy piece,” she shared.

Then, Cho Seung Woo (The King) represents the monarch “who seeks the spirits’ shadows,” his poster builds intense suspense through his commanding and heavy screen presence.

With a piercing look and a shadow cast across half of his face, his depiction heightens anticipation regarding the true nature of the malevolent curse gripping the East Palace.

“The main characters in the drama each have deep, personal backstories, and it is a compelling piece where their emotions swirl, explode, and resolve alongside the incidents within the palace,” he mentioned.

Comprising a total of 8 episodes, the entire season of “The East Palace” is scheduled to premiere simultaneously on July 17.
