Minister Nasaruddin Umar Bans Kemenag ASN from Using Official Vehicles for 2026 Eid al-Fitr Homecoming

EN.malanginspirasi.com – Indonesia’s Minister of Religious Affairs, Nasaruddin Umar, has issued a firm prohibition against all State Civil Apparatus (ASN) within the Ministry of Religion using official (dinas) vehicles for personal 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming (mudik).

The ban aims to uphold integrity, professionalism, and ensure that state facilities are used responsibly and only for their intended official purposes.

“ASN are obliged to maintain integrity and professionalism and to use state facilities responsibly. ASN are strictly prohibited from abusing their authority or position facilities for personal gain,” the Minister stated in Jakarta on Thursday, 12 March 2026.

Minister Nasaruddin Umar explained that official vehicles are state assets dedicated exclusively to supporting official duties. Their use must follow existing regulations and cannot be diverted for private purposes, including the annual Eid homecoming journey.

Exception for On-Duty Personnel

However, ASN who remain on active duty during the Lebaran period are still permitted to use official facilities.

“Some Kemenag personnel will be working during the holiday, for example to oversee the ‘Rumah Ibadah Ramah Pemudik’ (Traveler-Friendly Houses of Worship) programme. While performing their duties, they may use the available facilities,” he clarified.

The regulation aligns directly with Government Regulation No. 94 of 2021 concerning Civil Servant Discipline, which explicitly forbids the misuse of authority and official facilities for personal interests.

The Minister also reminded ASN of their role as role models for society, especially in upholding ethics and accountability in the use of state property. This message is particularly relevant during Idulfitri, which teaches values of honesty, responsibility, and discipline.

“ASN are expected to set an example in the ethical use of state facilities,” he concluded.
