BNPT and Densus 88 Strengthen Collaboration to Safeguard Youth from Digital Radicalization

EN.malanginspirasi.com – Indonesia’s National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT) and Densus 88 Antiterror Police are intensifying their partnership through child protection measures, digital literacy programs, and enhanced community resilience. The initiative aims to build a stronger younger generation capable of navigating the digital landscape, which is increasingly vulnerable to radicalization and violent extremism.

The strengthened synergy was showcased during a book review of “Gamifikasi Kekerasan dalam Teror Modern di Era Digital” (Gamification of Violence in Modern Terrorism in the Digital Era). The event took place on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 15:00 WIB at Hotel Bidakara, Jalan Gatot Subroto, Menteng Dalam, South Jakarta.

It brought together government representatives, security officials, academics, forensic psychologists, and technology experts.

BNPT Chief: Collective Responsibility

Head of BNPT, Commissioner General (Ret.) Eddy Hartono, S.I.K., M.H., emphasized that building societal resilience in the digital age is a shared duty of all elements of the nation.

“Building societal resilience is a collective responsibility. Families, schools, government, communities, and all segments of society play a vital role in creating a safe environment that supports the healthy growth and development of the younger generation,” Hartono said.

He added that sustainable terrorism prevention must be reinforced through education, digital literacy, and community-based early detection. This approach is in line with Law No. 5 of 2018 on the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Terrorism, which highlights national preparedness, counter-radicalization, and deradicalization as cross-sectoral efforts.

“Effective prevention grows from the closest social environments. Therefore, strengthening families, schools, communities, and social spaces forms the essential foundation for collective resilience,” he added.

BNPT continues to drive active participation through the Coordination Forum for Terrorism Prevention (FKPT) and various community-based programs at the regional level.

Densus 88 Stresses Child Protection

Chief of Densus 88 Antiterror Police, Inspector General Sentot Prasetyo, S.I.K., highlighted the urgency of protecting children and strengthening their psychological resilience amid the rise of gamified violence on digital platforms.

“Children must be seen as parties who need protection and resilience-building. Strengthening digital literacy, healthy social environments, and family involvement are crucial elements of these protection efforts,” Prasetyo stated.

He added that a collaborative approach involving families, schools, government, academics, and society is key to successful prevention.

Forensic psychologist Dr. Zora Arfina Sukabdi underscored the importance of early detection and psychological protection for the younger generation.

Meanwhile, Prof. Harkristuti Harkrisnowo, S.H., M.A., Ph.D., reminded participants that policies must remain grounded in human rights and scientific evidence to ensure they are proportional and inclusive.

Dra. Adityana Kasandra Putranto emphasized the role of mental resilience and environmental support as protective factors.

Dr. Ismail Fahmi, on the other hand, highlighted the need for data-driven digital literacy to increase public awareness and understanding of digital dynamics.

The discussion concluded that protecting the younger generation from modern terrorist threats requires strong cross-sectoral collaboration.

Eddy Hartono closed the event with a clear message.

“Strong collaboration will create strong societal resilience. The protection of our youth begins in their immediate environment,” he stressed.
