Indonesia and France Deepen Strategic Partnership as Prabowo Meets Macron

en.malanginspirasi.com – President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, discussing strategic partnership on a bilateral meeting with President of the Republic of France, Emmanuel Macron, at the Élysée Palace, Paris, on Thursday, May 28, 2026.

The meeting was constructive, with discussions on strengthening bilateral relations between Indonesia and France in various priority sectors.

Previously, in a joint press statement with Macron,  Prabowo stated that several strategic issues would be prioritized for discussion.

These included the implementation of the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA).

“Today, I think we will discuss several important issues: cooperation in defense, clean energy, education, research, and the implementation of the Indonesia-European Union CEPA. We thank President Macron for his support in accelerating this development,” said Prabowo.

According to President Prabowo, relations between Indonesia and France are currently at their best in the history of the two countries.

He also expressed his appreciation for Macron’s commitment and leadership in fostering a closer partnership between the two countries.

“Your Excellency, the relationship between Indonesia and France is at its best level ever. We thank and respect the leadership of Your Excellency President Macron,” said President Prabowo.

Furthermore,  Prabowo also assessed that Indonesia and France share many common views on addressing various global and regional issues.

Prabowo mentioned that  the continued positive development of bilateral relations is inseparable from President Macron’s direct support in strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

“In some respects, Indonesia and France share similar views, and our bilateral relations are currently very good. This is due in no small part to President Macron’s direct support. Our relations are excellent in the defense sector, as are our cooperation in science and technology, and we want to further improve our relations in education,” he continued.
