en.malanginspirasi.com – President Prabowo Subianto affirmed that the government would continue the national industrial downstreaming strategy, citing the inaugural export of electric vehicle (EV) battery as tangible proof of the policy’s success.
“Today’s inaugural export of electric vehicle batteries marks a significant step. It is concrete evidence that our downstreaming strategy is sound, and we will continue to pursue it in the best possible manner,” the President stated during his remarks at the Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park (IWIP) complex in Central Halmahera Regency, North Maluku Province, on Thursday (October 8, 2026).
According to Prabowo, downstreaming is a key component of the strategy to strengthen national economic development by increasing domestic industrial value-added.
On this occasion, Prabowo also commended the companies operating within the IWIP complex for their leadership, governance, and sense of responsibility in conducting industrial activities.

He specifically highlighted the companies’ efforts to foster and empower the communities surrounding the industrial area.
“I also welcome the leadership, management, and sense of responsibility demonstrated by the companies in this area. I observe that the support and guidance you provide to the local people here are excellent. This is something we ought to support and continue,” the President said.
Amidst industrial development, the President reminded stakeholders to keep environmental and safety aspects a priority.
He emphasized that industrial progress must go hand-in-hand with responsible waste management and efforts to maintain air and water quality.
“We will safeguard the quality of our water and air. We must ensure proper waste management. Let us face our future well, with a deep sense of responsibility toward our children and grandchildren,” said the President.
Prabowo Subianto also emphasized that the development of the national industry is the result of a long process involving contributions from various previous administrations.
He expressed his appreciation to all parties who have worked to drive national development and downstreaming.
“Thank you to everyone who has worked hard, bringing us closer to our aspirations. Yet, I recall the words of our predecessors: the closer we get to our goals, the greater the challenges become. But we are accustomed to facing challenges; we have the courage to confront them,” the President concluded.
