en.malangisnpirasi.com – The House of Representatives (DPR RI) officially approved Police Commissioner General (Komjen Pol) Suyudi Ario Seto as the new Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Kapolri) during a plenary session held at the DPR/MPR building in Jakarta on Thursday (1/10/2026).

The approval follows a fit and proper test conducted earlier in the day by Commission III of the DPR RI, which unanimously agreed on Seto’s nomination.

He will succeed General Police Listyo Sigit Prabowo, who has been honorably discharged from the post.

Reading the report during the plenary session, Chairman of DPR Commission III Habiburrahman stated that the decision was taken acclamation after evaluating the candidate’s performance, qualifications, and vision.

Seto presented his strategic vision under the theme “Polisi Bersama Masyarakat Menegakkan Astra Cita Mewujudkan Indonesia Emas 2045” (Police with the Community Enforcing Astra Cita to Realize Golden Indonesia 2045).

“Commission III believes the police force requires a leader who is qualified, professional, and possesses high integrity,” Habiburrahman said.

“We hope this leadership renewal will enhance public trust in the National Police institution,” he continued.

The nomination was formally initiated by Presidential Letter Number R3/19/26, dated September 30, 2026, which proposed the honorable discharge of General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and the appointment of Komjen Suyudi Ario Seto.

Plenary Approval and Upcoming Inauguration

Following Commission III’s presentation, the House Leadership submitted the motion to the floor, where all attending lawmakers signaled their approval.

The newly designated Police Chief was then invited to the podium to pose for a group photo with the DPR leadership.

Addressing the assembly, the House Leadership confirmed that official documents approving the appointment would be signed immediately and forwarded to the President to avoid any vacancy in the National Police’s leadership.

“This morning, during the Pancasila Sanctity Day ceremony, I met with the President, who extended his regards to all honorable members of the assembly for promptly addressing this matter.  Following the signing, the new Kapolri is expected to be inaugurated by the President after the Dhuhr prayer,”  the House Speaker noted.

The plenary session was subsequently adjourned to proceed with the remaining legislative agenda.
