Malanginspirasi.com – Rieke Fransisca, a prominent fashion designer celebrated for her unique batik creations and hand-painted bags, has recently captured public attention once again. This time, her innovative works draw inspiration from one of Indonesia’s cultural treasures, Reog Ponorogo. Her exhibition, showcased on the second floor of the MCC, features an array of distinctive pieces that embody the enchanting essence of traditional Indonesian art.
Since entering the fashion industry in 2009, Rieke has consistently expressed her preference for themes drawn from Indonesian culture in her designs.
“I prefer to create works that reflect Indonesia. In this case, Reog Ponorogo stands out as one of my most fascinating subjects due to its realism and representation of our culture’s strength and beauty,” she stated.
The Reog Ponorogo designs are distinguished by their intricate details. Notably the realistic depiction of a lion’s face featured in the performance. The uniqueness lies in the painting techniques employed, which breathe life into every element of her creations.
“Reog Ponorogo is known for its powerful characters. I strive to convey that strength in my designs, using batik and painting techniques on leather bags,” she elaborated.

Rieke’s journey as a designer gained significant visibility in 2009. However, in 2015, she decided to focus on the Nusantara market, emphasizing the introduction of Indonesian culture through her designs.
She also frequently collaborates with mural artists on various design projects. Allowing her to share responsibilities and achieve a more diverse range of works.
Her products, starting at Rp450,000 for skirts, vary in price based on materials and design complexity. Hand-painted leather bags are also popular, with prices depending on the type of material and customer specifications.
Additionally, Rieke operates a boutique in Araya, providing fans and customers the opportunity to experience her creations firsthand.

Through her innovative fusion of painting and fashion, Rieke Fransisca continues to evolve her artistry, inspiring many beyond the fashion realm and contributing significantly to the preservation of Indonesian culture through her creative and modern designs.
