Agriculture Minister Fires Civil Servant Over Alleged Rp500 Million Budget Misuse, Fugitive Now on Wanted List

EN.malanginspirasi.com – Indonesia’s Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman, has dismissed a civil servant identified only as “C” for allegedly embezzling nearly Rp500 million (approximately US$31,000) in state funds. The employee has been declared a fugitive and placed on the national wanted list (DPO).

The dismissal was formalized through an official letter signed by Minister Amran on May 7, 2026.

In a press conference held on May 19, 2026, Amran reiterated his administration’s zero-tolerance policy toward corruption within the ministry.

“State money managed by the Ministry of Agriculture comes from the people and must be accounted for properly,” Amran said.

The case emerged as part of a broader internal cleansing operation led by Amran at the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan). The official is accused of diverting funds in a ministry project or financial management scheme.

Following the dismissal, authorities elevated the case, listing the suspect as a fugitive actively pursued by law enforcement, believed to be the police.

Project Mafia

During the same press briefing, Amran also disclosed other alleged irregularities, including a suspected “project mafia” and seed manipulation worth Rp3.3 billion. He further revealed that a private party had allegedly demanded Rp300 million in exchange for facilitating projects within the ministry.

Amran described the civil servant’s actions as a betrayal of the government’s efforts to strengthen national food security. The ministry has urged law enforcement to swiftly apprehend the suspect so they can be held accountable and repay the state losses.

The decisive action—immediate dismissal and reporting to authorities—signals a strong commitment by the current administration to eradicate corruption and budget mafia practices in the agriculture sector. It also demonstrates that the ministry will not hesitate to take firm internal measures against problematic employees, including those with civil servant (ASN) status.

As of the latest update, the full identity of the suspect referred to as “C” has not been publicly disclosed to protect the ongoing investigation. The public is encouraged to report any information regarding the fugitive’s whereabouts to the relevant authorities.
