Minister of the State Secretariat Prasetyo Hadi announced that the government received Perry’s resignation letter addressed to President Prabowo Subianto on Sunday, July 26, 2026.
President Prabowo accepted the resignation while expressing deep appreciation for Perry’s dedication during his nearly seven-year tenure leading the central bank.
Reports indicate that Perry’s resignation, which took effect voluntarily on July 25, 2026, was driven by personal reasons.
The government will proceed with the administrative dismissal of Perry Warjiyo in accordance with the Bank Indonesia Law.
Meanwhile, Senior Deputy Governor Destry Damayanti will carry out the duties of Acting Governor until a definitive governor is appointed through established legal procedures.

Following the resignation, the Board of Governors convened a meeting on July 26, 2026.
Pursuant to Article 48 Paragraph (1) Letter (a) of Law No. 23 of 1999 on Bank Indonesia—as last amended by Law No. 4 of 2026 on the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector (BI Law)—and Article 50 Paragraph (2) of the BI Law, the board officially designated Senior Deputy Governor Destry Damayanti as Acting Governor of Bank Indonesia.
Bank Indonesia affirmed that it will continuously ensure the smooth execution of its duties to achieve the stability of the rupiah, maintain the stability of the Payment System, and help safeguard Financial System stability in order to support sustainable economic growth.
The central bank highlighted that these actions aim to foster a conducive economic environment for real sector growth and job creation under the BI Law.
In executing its authority, Bank Indonesia emphasized that it will remain guided by good institutional governance and professionalism while maintaining strong synergy and coordination with the government to fulfill their respective mandates.
