The Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec), which oversees publicly funded protection for high-profile figures, has commissioned fresh risk assessments for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex .
According to The Guardian, this marks the first security risk assessment conducted for Meghan since the couple stepped back as senior working royals in 2020.
While Prince Harry was granted a review earlier in July, Ravec’s chair notified him that a new assessment had been commissioned for him alongside a separate assessment for Meghan to reflect their status as full-time UK residents rather than temporary visitors.
The security review comes as the couple adjusts to their relocated life in Britain.
In light of their permanent move, Ravec reportedly requested the couple’s daily routines and schedules—including details surrounding their children’s school run—to properly evaluate their protection needs.

Harry had previously challenged the withdrawal of automatic tax-funded police protection, stating in a witness statement that he could not put his family in danger on UK soil.

Shortly after their arrival on August 26, a formal letter issued on behalf of King Charles reiterated their status as non-working royals, clarifying that their operational security matters should be directed through standard police authorities.
Additionally, the couple decided to move their children to a new school just days into the term due to security and practical concerns regarding travel arrangements.
