en.malanginspirasi.com – Marc Marquez surged back to the top of the MotoGP World Championship standings after taking a dramatic Sprint victory at the Australian GP, Saturday (24/6/2026).
The race turned on its head when main title rival Jorge Martin crashed heavily out of second place during a fierce multi-lap duel for the lead.
Starting from pole position under overcast skies at the iconic coastal circuit, Marquez launched cleanly to lead into the opening corner, closely followed by Martin, Alex Marquez, and Johann Zarco.
What followed was an intense, edge-of-the-seat battle between the two main championship contenders.
Martin repeatedly lunged past Marquez through Phillip Island’s sweeping curves, only for Marquez to immediately counter-attack through turns one, two, and four to retain his advantage.
The high-speed drama reached its climax on the eighth lap.

While pressing hard behind Marquez entering the fast Turn 8 Hayshed corner, Martin ran slightly offline and suffered a violent low-side crash into the gravel trap.
The Spanish rider was stretchered off and transported to the track medical center with a reported right forearm injury, leaving Marquez clear to control the pace over the final laps and cruise to the Sprint victory.
Gresini Racing’s Alex Marquez crossed the finish line in second place to complete a family one-two, while Fabio Di Giannantonio rounded out the podium spots in third for the VR46 Racing Team.
Several other front-runners failed to finish the chaotic race, including Johann Zarco due to a technical breakdown, alongside Maverick Viñales, Raul Fernandez, and Francesco Bagnaia.
With his Sprint victory, Marc Marquez moves into the lead of the World Championship with 365 points, establishing a 10-point cushion over Jorge Martin ahead of Sunday’s feature race.
Reflecting on the intense battle after the race, Marquez noted that it was a genuine title fight from the start, adding that Martin had incredible speed and pushed him to the absolute limit at every single corner.
