Malanginspirasi.com – Pasar Ganjaran in Desa (Village) Sukolilo, Jabung, Kabupaten Malang, serves as a testament to the transformative power of innovative asset management in enhancing community welfare.
Originally, this land, designated as Village Land Fund (TKD), was utilized by a primary school as a teachers’ room. However, it became neglected after its use ceased. The village government took an innovative step by converting the space into a village market, which has now become a hub of economic activity for local residents.
Since its inception two years ago, Pasar Ganjaran has evolved into the primary location for local transactions. Currently, the market hosts 18 vendors offering a variety of essential goods, including agricultural products, food items, and household supplies.
Additionally, facilities such as meat and sugar processing machines have been introduced, further enhancing the market’s convenience for the local community.
Ali Masyhar S.H., the head of Sukolilo Village, emphasized that the utilization of this land aims to improve the welfare of its citizens.
“I want this land to benefit many people, not just for personal interests. With this market, residents can more easily meet their daily needs and earn income,” he stated.
The presence of Pasar Ganjaran has had a tangible economic impact on the community.
Nurul, a customer, remarked on the market’s proximity and affordability:
“This market is closer, and the prices here are more affordable,” she said.
Similarly, a trader, Wijayanti, shared her appreciation for the market’s establishment.
“With Pasar Ganjaran, I, and especially the residents of Desa Sukolilo, have benefited economically because we can work here. In other words, the head of the village has opened job opportunities for the surrounding community,” she remarked.

Tourist Destination
Looking ahead, the village government plans to further develop Pasar Ganjaran so that more residents can reap its benefits. A central aspect of this development includes modernizing facilities, such as adding permanent stalls, expanding parking areas, and improving the cleanliness and security of the market.
In the near future, the head of the village intends to develop various recreational facilities. Including a swimming pool and other attractions, aimed at attracting visitors from beyond the village.
With these developments, not only will traders feel the impact, but local residents will also have the opportunity to explore new ventures in the tourism and culinary sectors.
“We will introduce grape-picking tourism. And during the next Ramadan, I plan to feature live music at Pasar Ganjaran,” he explained.
By fostering a community-based economy and exploring tourism potential, Pasar Ganjaran transcends its role as merely a marketplace; it becomes a symbol of innovation and community prosperity. This initiative exemplifies how effective management of village assets can yield significant benefits for the society at large.
