en.malanginspirasi.com – Police in Indonesia’s capital (Polda Metro Jaya) have detained more than 300 people for questioning and named dozens of suspects following street protests at Jakarta that turned into nighttime rioting, officials said on Friday.
According to a report by Reuters, demonstrations organized by various groups began Thursday morning near the parliament building under heavy security.
The rallies coincided with the anniversary of last year’s deadly anti-government protests, which spanned two weeks and served as an early test for the administration of President Prabowo Subianto.

Thousands of police officers were deployed across Jakarta ahead of the rallies, where demonstrators voiced frustration over a range of government policies and demanded harsher punishments for corrupt officials.
While the main rally dispersed peacefully by Thursday evening, individuals dressed in black shirts remained on the streets late into the night.
They set fire to a police post and two motorcycles, blocked roads, and hurled rocks and sticks at law enforcement officers, who responded with water cannons and tear gas.
Polda Metro Jaya spokesperson Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto confirmed during a press conference that authorities have detained 322 people in connection with the rioting, including 160 individuals under the age of 18.
