Polresta Malang Kota Conduct Anti-Bullying and Anti-Drug Roadshow at SMPN 3 Malang

Malanginspirasi.com – The Malang City Police Resort (Polresta Malang Kota) held a roadshow titled “From Malang City for Indonesia” focused on preventing bullying and drug abuse in schools at SMPN 3 Malang on Tuesday, 25 November 2025.

In collaboration with Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), the program delivered educational sessions to students aimed at stopping bullying incidents at the school.

First Police Inspector (Iptu) Kanit II PPA, Khusnul Khotimah S.E., explained that the roadshow specifically targets junior high school (SMP) students due to the rising number of bullying cases involving their age group.

“Lately, there have been many bullying cases in Malang City, and the perpetrators are often junior high school students. We hope that this socialization can help reduce bullying incidents,” she stated.

Understanding the Psychological Impact

Khusnul stressed that helping students fully understand the severe psychological consequences of bullying is key to prevention.

“Victims of bullying can suffer serious mental health issues. Some cases have been so severe that we had to refer the victims to a mental health hospital,” she added.

Polresta Malang Kota recorded an increase in reported bullying cases. 6 cases in 2024 and 8 cases in 2025 so far, underscoring the urgency of these preventive outreach efforts.

Some incidents were repeated offenses carried out by small groups of students seeking to assert dominance or appear stronger among peers.

The roadshow will visit five to six schools across Malang City and is conducted in partnership with universities that provide experts in health and psychology, including UMM.

The Need For Quick Responses

Khusnul emphasized the critical role of schools and teachers in addressing bullying.

“Teachers must not turn a blind eye. When bullying occurs, schools need to be transparent and cooperate with the police and the Education Office,” she asserted.

Family background also plays a significant role in bullying behavior.

“Many of these children come from broken homes or lack attention. Parents need to be more present and become true friends to their children,” she continued.

During the event, Khusnul provided students with direct reporting channels, including a dedicated complaint hotline, so victims can immediately report any bullying incidents.

Through this initiative, Polresta Malang Kota hope to build collective awareness that preventing bullying is a shared responsibility involving law enforcement, schools, parents, and the wider community.

The roadshow is expected to be a concrete step toward creating a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.
