Head of Bareskrim Polri, Commissioner General Asep Safrudin, stated that his team conducted a series of investigative steps following reports regarding unauthorized wiretapping activities.
“Bareskrim Polri has conducted a series of investigative steps regarding allegations of illegal wiretapping, deletion of electronic data, and illegal access,” said Commissioner General Asep Safrudin.

Commissioner General Asep Safrudin explained that the unlawful interception occurred between 2025 and 2026, completely bypassing established protocols outlined in Police Regulation No. 5 of 2010.
“Between 2025 and 2026, the suspects allegedly ordered wiretapping without proper procedures as governed by Police Regulation No. 5 of 2010. Several numbers were entered into the LIMS (Lawful Interception Management System) server without verification or link to law enforcement procedures,” explained Commissioner General Asep.
The unauthorized monitoring spanned several prominent figures, including President Prabowo Subianto, high-ranking state officials, political figures, media professionals, civil society leaders, and business executives.
To cover their tracks, the suspects allegedly ordered the deletion of wiretapping logs and data files from the LIMS servers in October 2026. Internal officers discovered the breach and filed a formal report with Bareskrim on October 30, 2026.
“Wiretapping activities must comply with Police Regulation No. 5 of 2010, which guarantees human rights protection, legality, legal certainty, and confidentiality strictly for law enforcement purposes,” emphasized Commissioner General Asep.
Police have interrogated 10 witnesses and 3 expert witnesses while seizing key evidence, including 11 mobile phones, 1 iPad, and 2 flash drives as part of the ongoing legal proceedings.
