en.malanginspirasi.com – East Java Provincial DPRD Member, Dr. Sri Untari Bisowarno, affirmed her commitment to strengthening the regional regulation (perda) framework for people with disabilities in Malang.
She mentioned this commitment after receiving input from disability groups regarding access to public facilities and economic empowerment.
Sri Untari stated that the focus of the future struggle is ensuring concrete affirmation and advocacy for these “special children.”
One crucial point discussed was providing a space for them to display and market their creative works so they can become financially independent.
”We continue to coordinate with our legislative colleagues at the city level to ensure concrete steps are taken to provide affirmation for these special children. We want them not only to create but also to become independent through the fruits of their hard work,” said Sri Untari.

Furthermore, the PDI-P politician also highlighted the urgency of synchronizing regional regulations. He asked the PDI-P faction of the Malang City Council (DPRD) to immediately review the Regional Regulation (Perda) on the Protection and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities to align it with Law Number 8 of 2016.
According to him, this adjustment is crucial to shift the approach to services for persons with disabilities from mere social assistance (charity) to fulfilling basic human rights.
”My hope is that my colleagues in the faction, along with the Regional Representative Council (DPD), can initiate regulatory adjustments in accordance with the latest law. Services should no longer be merely medical or social, but must be based on the fulfillment of human rights, as they have the same right to live well and be empowered in society,” he emphasized.
He is also committed to continuously overseeing the ongoing development of persons with disabilities in Malang City through synergy between legislative institutions.
Thereby creating an ecosystem that supports inclusivity and independence for all citizens without exception.
