Malang City Celebrates 111th Anniversary with Financial Support for 111 Micro and Small Businesses (UMKM)

Malanginspirasi.com – In commemoration of the 111th anniversary of Malang City, the Malang City Government (Pemkot Malang), in collaboration with BPR Tugu Artha Sejahtera, has provided concrete support to micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM). As part of this initiative, 111 UMKMs received special savings accounts from BPR Tugu Artha Sejahtera, a regional bank dedicated to supporting the local economy.

The symbolic handover ceremony took place on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at the office of BPR Tugu Artha Sejahtera, attended by Malang Mayor Wahyu Hidayat. This program reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening the UMKM sector, which serves as the backbone of the city’s economy.

The Director of BPR Tugu Artha Sejahtera, Nyimas Nunin, explained that the program aims not only to assist UMKMs with capital but also to introduce the community to the city-owned financial institution.

“Through the 111th anniversary of Malang City, we are providing savings to 111 UMKMs as a form of synergy between Tugu Artha and the Malang City Government. This also reminds us that BPR Tugu Artha belongs to the people of Malang,” she stated.

Each selected UMKM received a savings account of IDR 100,000. The selection process involved online registration and required participants to have official business permits.

Mayor Wahyu Hidayat emphasized that this program symbolizes the government’s attention to UMKMs amidst challenges in financing and promotion.

“On the 111th anniversary of Malang City, we are appreciating 111 UMKMs. This is not just financial assistance but also a form of inclusive financial service from BPR Tugu Artha,” he explained.

He further highlighted that the two main challenges facing UMKMs today are limited access to capital and marketing.

Thousand Events

To address these, the Malang City Government has launched the “Seribu Event” (Thousand Events) strategy to support the promotion of local UMKM products.

“We provide financial solutions through BPR and support promotions with a thousand events to make UMKMs more widely known,” he added.

Wahyu also encouraged UMKM actors to continuously improve their business capacity through training, digitization, and expansion of business networks.

“I urge all UMKM actors to enhance product quality, master technology, and build cross-sector collaborations to make Malang City’s UMKMs more competitive,” he concluded.
