Controversy at Cerdas Cermat 4 Pilar MPR RI Competition, SMAN 1 Sambas’ Championship Victory Canceled, West Kalimantan Final is Rescheduled

en.malanginspirasi.com – The People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) has officially annulled the first-place victory of SMAN 1 Sambas in the Provincial Level of the Four Pillars Smart Competition (Lomba Cerdas Cermat Empat Pilar) in West Kalimantan.

The decision was the result of  intense public criticism and a viral controversy regarding the jury’s scoring in the final round.

MPR RI Chairman Ahmad Muzani stated that the entire West Kalimantan final will be rescheduled with a completely new and independent panel of judges.

The MPR leadership will directly supervise the re-competition.

“We will redo the final round in West Kalimantan as soon as possible. There will be A new, independent jury,” Muzani said during a press conference at the MPR Building in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday (13/5/2026).

The controversy erupted during the provincial final in Pontianak, which featured three schools: SMAN 1 Sambas, SMAN 1 Pontianak, and SMAN 1 Sanggau.

A question regarding the selection of members of the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK) triggered protests after two teams gave similar answers but received different scores from the jury.

The incident was recorded and widely shared on social media, drawing sharp criticism from the public.

As a result of the annulment, SMAN 1 Sambas — which had celebrated its victory and earned the right to represent West Kalimantan at the national level — must now compete again in the repeated final.

There is also a cancelation of Rp10,000,000 prize money for the winner.

The MPR RI expressed its apologies for the inconvenience caused and appreciated the sportsmanship shown by SMAN 1 Pontianak students who raised the objection in a respectful manner.

The LCC Empat Pilar MPR RI competition aims to introduce the Four Pillars of the Nation (Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika) to the younger generation through an educational and competitive format.
